00:07This is Joshua Sugay of PIA Mimaropa for Balitang Pambansang.
00:12The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of BIFAR Mimaropa formally opened the first aqua feed mill plant in the town of Bulalacao, Oriental, Mindoro.
00:23The 35-million-peso facility was built to provide high-quality aqua feeds for fishery operators,
00:31mariculture farmers, and other aqua farmers throughout the region.
00:35The facility has the capacity to produce 250 to 300 kilos of feeds per hour
00:42and helps to reduce the cost of production that does not sacrifice the nutrition of feeds for tilapia, bangus, and other aquatic species.
00:53This project is very important because we know that aquaculture, or fish farming,
01:04almost 60 to 70 percent of our expenses are for food.
01:10So this is a big help to our growing industry.
01:17According to Lea Arceo Dagot, the plant is a focal person.
01:21She will use local ingredients such as sweet potatoes, cassava, and corn
01:26that are rich in nutrition and can help sustainable fish farming.
01:30Locally, its sources and feed formulation come from Oriental and Occidental Mindoro.
01:36It will serve all of BIFAR Mimaropa.
01:45The fishing sector in the Mimaropa region is expected to grow stronger
01:50and provide more food, jobs, and opportunities for fishermen.
