One health insurance proposal. Two very different takes.
Transcript
00:00Not one rupee, not one rupee has been provided for this grand program to cover 50 crore people.
00:08We stand committed and we will roll out and we will give finance, we will provide finance accordingly.
00:30I don't find a scheme there which reflects the insurance proposal that they have announced.
00:43There must be a scheme, there must either be an outlay where the government will pay for the hospital care
00:52or the government will pay the premium for the insurance company to pay.
00:57But I don't find any entry here for that kind of money.
01:01There are sources from where the money will be taken care.
01:05It is the commitment and the commitment of the Modi government is very clear, crystal clear
01:11that we will give an insurance coverage to 10 crore families
01:17and which will include 50 crore people, 5 lakh per month, per year, per family.
01:24So that commitment stands, finance will not be the problem.
01:27When I took over and when the India government took over, there used to be slush in the health budget.
01:34But when we came, there was not slush, there was enhancement.
01:38And for whatever project we came with full proof arrangements, the finances were made.
01:45I was completely taken aback by the brazenness of the announcement
01:51that we are going to introduce the world's largest funded government health care program.
01:59Now that's not hyperbole, that's not exaggeration, that is brazenness.
02:05Therefore, I had to point out that this is the world's largest unfunded government announcement.
02:12Not one rupee, not one rupee has been provided for this grand program to cover 50 crore people.
