Taste the Place launches in April to celebrate Glasgow hospitality for its 850th anniversary

Taste the Place has launched by the Chamber of Commerce and here’s what it means.

00:04to highlight Glasgow's vibrant culinary heritage and hospitality scene as part of its 850th

00:11anniversary celebrations. The aim is to offer locals and visitors an opportunity to learn

00:17more about Glasgow's food culture and point them towards restaurants in every corner of the city,

00:23ones perhaps off the beaten track or in an area they're less familiar with

00:27that they maybe wouldn't have come across otherwise. Come next month a free self-guided

00:32digital experience will be available to the public that promises to serve up plenty of

00:37unique experiences, captivating stories and mouth-watering dishes from independent

00:43businesses who call Glasgow home. The Chamber of Commerce has partnered with over 40 eateries

00:49that offer authentic and sustainable dishes by people who have lived here for generations

00:55and also people who have arrived here more recently, bringing culinary knowledge from

01:00other parts of the world. This is everything from a 100 year old ice cream parlour,

01:05an Italian bistro situated within the UK's only remaining tram shelter, Glasgow's oldest sweet

01:12shop, to new and emerging cuisines including an innovative plant-based bakery and southeast Asian

01:19street food served from a hole in the wall. Glasgow is known across the world for its

01:24interest in cuisine. At its heart is a city that loves food so this is a really good opportunity
