00:00Around 30 million pesos worth of suspected smuggled sugar from Vietnam were seized by the Department of Agriculture or D.A.

00:07Inspectorate and Enforcement and the Bureau of Customs or BOC at the Subic Port.

00:11According to the Sugar Regulatory Administration or SRA, an alert order was issued for the arrival of

00:1710,000 bags or the equivalent of 500 tons of suspected smuggled sugar after authorities suspected that the cargo was

00:25misdeclared. The powdery white sweetener labeled 88% sugar and 12% glucose was the declared content of the seized bags.

00:34The SRA has already identified the consignee of the cargo and if it is proven that the sugar was illegally smuggled,

00:41it will be subject for action.

00:43Authorities are still studying what cases the involved parties may face if it is proven that the seized sugar was smuggled and misdeclared and

00:50whether if they can be considered violations of the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act.
