Millions brace for widespread severe weather, tornado threat this weekend

It has been an active month of severe weather, and that trend will continue as we head into the final weekend of March, with over a dozen states at risk for severe weather. AccuWeather's Bernie Rayno has the details.

00:00Well, after a relatively quiet week, severe weather-wise across the country, well, things

00:05ramp up, unfortunately, as we head toward the weekend.

00:08We're watching a storm way up in the Bering Sea.

00:12That'll come southeastward, come into California Friday night, and then move out into the Plain

00:16States Saturday night into Sunday.

00:19Now, initially, there can be some severe weather across parts of the Midwest on Saturday.

00:24Then the big severe weather day for the weekend will be on Sunday.

00:28A large area for the potential of severe weather from Houston to Gulf Coast states

00:34all the way up into the Ohio Valley.

00:36The main threat is going to be damaging winds and some rain, but certainly can't rule out

00:40an isolated tornado or two.

00:43That threat then heads east as we get into early next week.

00:47We'll be talking about the Carolinas and perhaps parts of the Mid-Atlantic and southeast.

00:53Then it does turn cooler in the wake of that system as we get into Tuesday and Wednesday

00:57of next week.
