00:00Legion Bloodstock has been off to a fast start since it was founded three years ago by Kyle Zorn, Christian Valente, and Travis Sturr.
00:09They've got a big weekend coming up in Saratoga as their list of graduates include Traverse contender Honor Marie and the promising two-year-old Moplex who will head to the Funnyside Stakes.
00:21We started Legion about three years ago. You know, Travis, Christian, and myself, we kind of kept landing on the same horses at the sales.
00:30And it was just kind of natural that we all started saying, you know, we're kind of all looking at the same stuff. What if we did this together?
00:38We thought, you know, growing it amongst ourselves, we could turn it into something big.
00:42And I don't think we expected it to grow this fast, but it's been a lot of fun over the last three years.
00:48Honor Marie, we found him at the Keeneland September sale, working off of a set budget that we had in mind for that particular racing group.
00:56When he came running and got up in a photo to win first time out, we liked him.
01:00We, you know, oh, he's going to be a nice horse.
01:02Did we ever think he was going to win the Jockey Club two months later and take us on this ride?
01:07You know, I don't think anybody was thinking that at the time.
01:10He ran a great race, in our opinion, in the Belmont.
01:13Again, some bad racing luck out of the gate, but he showed that he belongs with those horses.
01:19He's really thrived up here. He's grown. He's filled out.
01:23But the fact that here we are, I think we're live.
01:27I know he's going to be a long shot on paper, but I expect this horse to run a big race.
01:33Moplex, he's been kind of the big talk horse up here all summer.
01:37We found him down at OBS. Christian had been on that horse for a little bit.
01:41He's going to run on Sunday in the Funnyside Stakes, the New York Red Stakes.
01:45But I love Jeremiah's plan with this horse.
01:48You know, even though he's a big growth thing, he's still maturing.
01:52And that's what's scary about this horse.
01:54But I think the plan is the champagne with him.
01:56He's got a win over that track already, so we know he ships.
02:00That horse is literally growing by the minute.
02:03And I'm really excited to see him run on Sunday, I think as everybody else is.
02:07People ask that a lot about, you know, the price point.
02:11Does it make it more special? I think it does.
02:14I always feel like, you know, when you sneak one in and you buy a horse like Honor Marie or Moplex for under 50
02:21and, you know, they go out and win first time, everything else at this point is just gravy.
02:25Some of the ones up here that we've been real happy with,
02:28obviously, you know, we bought Velikos with Jeremiah for that group.
02:32So that was a fun one. I think we paid 82 for her.
02:35Tricky Temper is a horse that we bought with Jeremiah for Mark Stanley.
02:40Obviously, she's had a heck of a summer winning twice up here.
02:43And a two-year-old that we have with Jason Wirth running on Travers Day in Sport Nation.
02:49He ran a big second here off the turf.
02:52He's a bungle in the jungle, so we expect him to run a lot better when he gets back on the grass.
02:57I think the biggest thing for us is it is loyalty.
03:02I want people to feel like when they're in, you know, because it is, they're investing their money with us.
03:09They're putting their trust in us.
03:11We treat this as a business, but it's fun for us.
03:14Like the passion for us is we're not out here trying to make a million dollars with this.
03:20I get as much out of this being able to come here for the Travers
03:24and make the walkover with Honor Marie or Moplex or whatever the big horse is.
03:29It's what we're all chasing.
03:30You know, Travis, Christian, myself, we're all fans of horse racing first.
