The Drive: Should The Texans Go Get Cooper Kupp?

The Los Angeles Rams officially released wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Should the Texans be interested? Brandon Scott, filling in for Ron "The Show" Hughley on The Drive, says so.

00:34gotta think that there is a chance if Cooper Cup has any tread left on a tire

00:38if Cooper Cup has anything to bring to a team Nick Kaley's gonna know what that

00:44is which is going to give the Texans an inside scoop if you will on should they

00:51pursue him can they can they afford him does it make sense and I'm gonna be

00:55honest with you I don't have B Scott I don't have a real strong take either way

01:06spot that slots field I don't believe that Christian Kirk

01:09getting in Cooper Cups he ain't even on the same stratosphere as Cooper Cup

01:14right so I don't believe that and I believe that you can have you can do a

01:18lot of work with two inside quote-unquote inside receivers I think

01:23Cooper Cup if he's got tread left on his tire is a versatile receiver that

01:26brings more than just an inside guy to the table a good offensive coordinator a

01:31healthy Christian Kirk a healthy Cooper Cup would would do work not to mention

01:36Nico Collins is opposite I mean that would be nasty assuming there's tread

01:39left on the tire I don't really have a strong hell yeah we got to go get him or

01:44what are y'all out there doing but I'm gonna be honest with you B Scott I've

01:48thought about this for a long time now I thought he would probably go back until

01:53they to the Rams until they signed Devontae Adams I was like oh wait a

01:56minute so there ain't this this is real yeah he's gonna hit the market he's

01:59gonna be on the streets I don't have a real strong take either way but for

02:03whatever reason for the last week I've had a hard time getting Nick Kaley and

02:08Cooper Cup and the fact that the Texans are a wide receiver needy football team

02:20surprised because it seems obvious for the reasons that you laid out and also

02:24obvious because it's Cooper Cup and it's not like you're asking him it's not like

02:28you would be signing him to be the Cooper Cup of old or to necessarily even

02:33be some version of that for you you have that in Nico Collins now and Christian

02:37Kirk for what it's worth I think is a perfectly fine number two or number

02:41three receiver if Nico Cooper Cup or somebody of that

02:46ilk or somebody of that caliber is also on the team like that just gives you all

02:51the more depth so my I mean my hot take and I feel like it's weird for it to be

02:59it's not like you're doing the Stephon Diggs thing to go get Cooper Cup where

03:04you're trading a second round pick and you're or you're you're trading back and

03:07you're passing up on the opportunity cost to go get a really good young wide

03:10receiver just to go pay an older one who doesn't play like this is to me

03:16enough and we talked about this yesterday about you know low risk high

03:19reward moves that's what I feel like this is all it's gonna cost you is money

03:23well you've been making moves over the last several days to free up money to

03:27create money to allow you to make this type of move right you traded Laramie

03:32Tunsil you let Shaq Mason go all of these different moves that you've

03:35already made and I know there's there's math with all of they sign guys I get it

03:38but you understand what I'm saying like you've made moves that should make it

03:42possible for you to go out there and at least spend some money on a guy that can

03:46really help you win and it's not gonna cost you a draft
