00:00The Calinga Provincial Government recently inked a memorandum of agreement with the International

00:05Development Agency Alinea Philippines for the implementation of the Governance for Climate

00:10and Disaster Resilience Project. Rod Asurin from the Philippine Information Agency Calinga has details.

00:18The resilience of Calinga to natural disasters and climate change will be enhanced with the

00:22implementation of a six-year Climate and Disaster Resiliency Project. The Calinga Provincial

00:28Government recently inked a memorandum of agreement with the International Development

00:32Agency Alinea Philippines for the implementation of the Governance for Climate and Disaster

00:38Resilience Project. Funded by the Canadian Government through the Global Affairs Canada,

00:43the project aims to build the capacities of local government units and communities to effectively

00:48prepare, mitigate, respond to, and recover from climate-induced hazards and natural disasters.

00:55We are fortunate to be one of the recipient provinces of this foreign-funded initiative

01:03and with this privilege comes the responsibility to demonstrate our unity and cooperation

01:11in ensuring its success. We will also be liberating the technical expertise of both

01:19Caribbean and Filipino institutions in that work specializing in climate hazard

01:25and risk assessment, climate modeling, and disaster recovery planning. The project will

01:32support Calinga to enhance its climate and disaster risk assessment and integrate it

01:37to its development plans. It will also help local governments tap funding mechanisms to

01:42implement climate change adaptation projects such as the People's Survival Fund. Calinga is

01:48one of the six provinces in the country selected for the project alongside Aklan, Samar, Bohol,
