Governor-General's appeal

Governor-General Sam Mostyn appealed to Australians to give blood.

00:00I'm here this morning to support the Lifeblood campaign for all Australians to donate blood.

00:07Of course with Cyclone Alfred it meant the closure of a number of vital donation centres

00:12across Queensland particularly and we need 800 Australians a day for the next few weeks

00:16to donate blood to make up for the shortfall of the thousands of appointments that had

00:20to be cancelled because of the cyclone.

00:22So I'm here today to donate blood, to encourage all Australians to support Lifeblood and to

00:27support all Australians who will need your blood in the coming days.
