ANU music professor slams changes at the university
Transcript
00:00I think this is a feel-good course which looks as though it's been put together by amateurs.
00:13And I've taught music for a long time. I'm 91 years old, so I've been doing this for many years
00:23and I've seen various often ridiculous attempts at what we're discussing now.
00:31I've seen it all before.
00:35And I'm frankly appalled that here we are back at it again just because there's someone new at the helm
00:47and they feel they have to make changes.
00:51And I understand, of course, like everyone else does, that the ANU is in financial trouble
00:58and they have to find money.
01:01All I'm saying is that when you apply the kind of thinking that's being applied
01:07to a course purporting to produce musicians, you'll fail.
01:14And you'll fail your own graduates who will not thank you when they start applying to go elsewhere
01:24and to study further.
01:27That's what the future will bring, unfortunately.
