How about the Mets? They get Soto and that run they went on last year was very exciting.
00:05
Can they live up to it again? Will it all work again? And they got Alonzo back. I'll
00:10
be it for this, you know, crappy two year deal he did.
00:14
Well, I think Sterns did a masterclass there, right? Because all the leverage is on the
00:18
Met side at that point. This guy was offered over a hundred million dollars in contract,
00:22
right? 150 almost. And he had turned it down. He thought he was going to be worth more and
00:27
he had a down year. Let's be honest. It was not a great season. So I was a masterclass
00:31
in GMing right there by Sterns. I would say that. I think the Mets are really intriguing
00:35
because even though they did go out there and spend a ton of money on Juan Soto, they
00:38
did still bring back Pete Alonzo, which lengthens that lineup, which is very important.
00:43
You're going to have Soto and Lindor at the top there. You're going to have a lot of guys
00:46
on base for whoever's hitting the three hole. I think it should be Vientos in the three
00:50
hole, not necessarily Alonzo. I'd like to see Alonzo five. We'll keep Nimmo in the four
00:55
spot. I think that's the best lineup the Mets can put out there. The Alonzo addition
00:59
is very important because that lengthens that lineup. I think a guy like Vientos, if you're
01:02
looking at props for him, I'd be going over a hundred RBI for him, like whatever the RBI
01:07
total is. I'm sure it's gonna be in the 80s. I'll set it. Go over because he's going to
01:09
get 100 RBI on this team. I'm telling you right now and bringing back Shulman. I am
01:14
very crucial. They hope that Senga is healthy. I think Clay Holmes can be kind of like a
01:18
version of Derek Lowe in the past. Remember when they converted Derek Lowe in Boston from
01:23
the bullpen? Extreme ground ball pitcher. You're bringing him into this mess. Rotation
01:27
is a higher strikeout rate, though, the Derek Lowe ever had. So he could be a version of
01:32
Derek Lowe with more strikeouts. I think that's actually a very appealing pitcher potentially
01:36
for the New York Mets, especially with that offense. I have. I would also be looking at
01:39
Luis Angel Acuna at plus thirty five hundred for rookie of the year. I think Jeff McNeil
01:44
is a bench player, a utility guy at this stage in his career. I don't think he's an everyday
01:48
player. Acuna was raking in the Arizona Fall League, and I think he could have a very big
01:52
season. I think he will play more than 100 games at second base for the Mets in twenty
01:56
twenty five. How do you think Acuna will do in Atlanta now that he's back and he's had,
02:00
you know, two bad knees surgeries? But what will they be like without freed and with him
02:06
back? Well, Atlanta right now, you're looking at Acuna at least missing April. That seems
02:12
to be what people are thinking about. And it's ironic because the last time he came
02:16
back from this surgery, right, people were saying, well, you know, just have small expectations
02:21
about the stolen bases. He won't run. And that was a big load of crap because he came
02:25
a ton of bases that first year back. And last year, or should I say two years ago, rather,
02:30
he was a forty seventy player. I mean, an incredible return there to dominance for Acuna.
02:36
So I would expect him to come back, be healthy, ready to go on time. And now with two surgically
02:42
repaired knees, you have to hope now that the worst is behind him. Strider is the more
02:47
intriguing piece here. He's going very early, still in fantasy drafts. And I know he's already
02:51
throwing bullpens. I'm very skeptical that he's going to be ready any time soon. I think
02:56
the Braves are a team that they could just hang around 500. They could have a big second
03:00
half sneak into the playoffs and then be trouble because you can get Strider healthy and sail
03:04
on that rotation. And a guy like Schwellenbach to maybe repeat or build upon what he did
03:09
in twenty twenty four. That could be a really tough rotation. We know how deep that lineup
03:13
is to the addition of profile gives them flexibility in the outfield to really smart
03:17
pickup by Atlanta, who really kind of had a quiet offseason outside of profile.
