00:00But Canada wins at 3-2 in overtime in the final in the championship at the Garden in Boston.

00:07Canada got goals from McKinnon in the first period. Bennett in the second tied it up.

00:21Matty Kachug played only seven minutes between the first two periods. He's obviously

00:26banged up badly. Connor McDavid is left alone in the slot to bury the overtime winner on Sportsnet.

00:47So McDavid said it meant a lot but he has a lot bigger goals than that.

00:52Yeah obviously it means a lot to our group. You know I think a lot of people were wondering if

00:57you know what this tournament would mean to guys and obviously you can see what it

01:12goalie. Now you get to do it for your country. I know you don't want to talk about yourself but

01:16what does it mean to you to deliver for your country in a big moment? Well he's doing it

01:20at the Olympics and this is just a you know kind of a little tournament so we want to do it again

01:25next February. That's what it comes down to. Obviously this was great, exciting you know but

01:33the focus is next February doing it in Italy. I mean it sounded to me like he was in a fishbowl.

01:42That was Connor McDavid in the aquarium. Yeah like in a fish tank like what was that? I didn't know

01:48if that was us or I'm like that's that sounds like he's doing this interview in scuba gear.

02:00talking about how big the tourney was for a lot of the guys. Yeah I mean I think this was probably

02:06the biggest game a lot of us have played in. You know you don't get too many opportunities to

02:12to wear these colors to wear this jersey. You know in a winner take all situation so

02:18obviously it's disappointing but I couldn't be prouder of the group. I thought like I said he

02:23competed the whole tournament did everything you know except to overcome many adversities.

02:31You know a lot of good stuff happened but you know obviously sucks to walk away losing end.

02:36I mean somebody's got to lose right in every game so they lost and it is what it is.

02:42So I didn't think that you know they played badly. I thought they you know obviously they

02:48won Saturday night and they couldn't beat them twice. That's how good they were like I said so

02:54it's obviously a bummer when you lose in anything. I hate losing it sucks you never forget it. It

03:00drives you crazy. It's bad for you mentally I'm telling you that much. I have nightmares about

03:06losses title game losses in my basketball career and I've had tons of them and it's just a disaster

03:14winning you barely remember it's the losing that sucks. So the losing hurts way worse than really

03:20the glory of winning like winning you feel excited but it phases like out like it just

03:29it goes away you don't even remember it but you never forget the losses. So I think they'll have

03:33a hard time swallowing that you know what I mean. Oh I do I know what you mean it's like in everything

03:38like I see when we are loose like we lost so many hockey games and like city finals and stuff like

03:43that we lost a triple overtime game we came back and won a quadruple overtime game before but that

03:48lost Scott it affected me for a very long time. I'm like you um I joke around and stuff when it

03:53comes to sports and competition I don't screw around like I I'm I'm all I'm all in and yeah

03:58pisses me off the question is though and the thing you got to do how do you move on from

04:02disappointment and that's the whole thing if I heard disappointment out of Austin Matthews mouth

04:06for every dollar I'd be rich I'd be living on a golf course so we'll see what happens what do you

04:11do after a loss is the key but you're right when you win it's party time and the losses

04:16they'll stick with you but you got to learn from them and grind deeper.
