00:00The Department of Health of DOH is teaching climate change as one of the reasons for the rise of dengue cases in the country.

00:09According to the agency, the number of cases reported this year has reached 28,234.

00:1540% more than the reported cases in 2024.

00:21In the past, whenever it rained, the number of dengue cases increased.

00:25Now, even though it's still early in the year, there's already an outbreak in some places,

00:30including Quezon City, where 10 are infected and more than 1,700 have been infected within 2 months.

00:38In addition to Quezon City, there are 8 other LGUs being monitored and assisted by DOH,

00:45particularly in the region of Luzon.

00:48The agency did not provide any information, especially to the local government agencies.

00:57According to the DOH, aside from climate change,

01:00another reason for the rise of dengue cases in the environment and infrastructure

01:05is that the agency continues to call for a clean and proper environment as a protection against dengue.

01:13The declaration of an outbreak does not mean that it's a disease.

01:17This means that the number of cases has increased more than what is usually expected in one part of the year.

01:25When we declare an outbreak through our mayors or our governors,

01:31there is an outbreak response.

01:34We can see this in the community clean-up drives.
