For richer or poorer, in sickness or in health, to love and cherish till death do us part.
00:12
It was not how they planned the big day, but at least all's well that ends well for two pairs
00:19
of lovebirds who finally professed their marriage vows on Monday after weeks of delay due to the
00:24
coronavirus pandemic. We are both happy that finally we made it through the wedding date.
00:32
It was supposed to be scheduled on April 2. I'm happy that we made it through.
00:36
It will be a memorable day for us, memorable time that we will be treasured forever.
00:42
Movement restrictions were imposed and big gatherings were banned to curtail the spread
00:46
of the virus. Weddings at the Philippine consulate in Dubai were cancelled and the
00:50
couples had to postpone and scale down their plans. We do have a lot of plans before the
00:57
lockdown like renting hotel for our wedding reception, bringing his family here because
01:05
he's the eldest and only son and his mother wants to join us here to celebrate with us,
01:14
but unfortunately we cannot. We just decided to book a hotel just to spend time with each other
01:22
only since it's not possible to have a small gathering, small party since it's a
01:31
restriction from the PUAE law. Since we don't have a wedding reception, we're going to do it
01:36
at home but with a minimum. It's very simple, it's very simple. We just, maybe just the family,
01:42
my cousin, my father, that's it. And our roommates. Yeah, dinner. But then again, true love waits
01:51
as the saying goes and the couples told Gulf News they actually utilized the downtime to build a
01:56
stronger bond and ponder on their future. Actually, it's more stronger now because even though
02:03
there is a pandemic happening. Because we have a lot of vending, we have a lot of time and like that
02:10
we have a work before, we are able to see each other at night only. Precautionary measures were
02:16
also strictly observed. Everyone was checked by the guard at the gate for their body temperature
02:21
before entering the consular premises. Face masks and hand gloves were required to be put on
02:26
throughout the ceremony and physical distancing was observed. The main difference like
02:33
is now, I suppose since we're doing it one couple at a time, it's more, well definitely quieter and
02:41
I suppose more solemn. We just the bride and the groom and two witnesses which is,
02:46
you know, as required by the law, the Philippine law.
