00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Timers video bulletin. An award-winning Derbyshire

00:05care home built five years ago for 10 million pounds is set to be sold off

00:10despite a protest march and 5,000 people signing a petition against the sale.

00:16Derbyshire County Council leadership is now set to sign off on the sale and

00:20potential privatisation of the 40 bed Ada Belfield care centre at Belper at

00:26their next meeting next week. Meanwhile Conservative leaders are also set to

00:31close all residential beds at the Staveley care home and the Thomas Fields

00:35care home in Buxton, converting both facilities to offer purely hospital

00:40step-down beds. A council report stated

00:56for adults. This recommendation is made to ensure that the council can provide a

01:01sustainable adult service for people at Derbyshire by using its resources to

01:06meet gaps identified in the market. It's been a four-year labour of love for

01:13Richard Young but finally his dream of saving thousands of padlocks from being

01:17melted down has come to fruition today as he prepares to unveil their new

01:21permanent home. After councillors said they were unable to save the

01:26Lovelock padlocks, originally fastened to a bridge spanning the River Wye in

01:30Bakewell, he began his quest to save all the locks. Their new home on the Thornbridge

01:35estate is a short distance away from where they were originally hung and

01:39will open today for Valentine's Day. Richard said we were expecting about

01:4340,000 locks but there are closer to 60,000 that's about seven tons. I had to

01:49save the memories. The more messages I read, the harder I worked to save them

01:53all. I wasn't going to let those memories be melted down. It took a team

01:57of around 140 volunteers a month to hang all of the padlocks at the new

02:02Lovelocker at their home in the Peak District beauty spot. Visitors can visit

02:06Thornbridge for free and there's space for thousands more locks to be hung and

02:09the shop are stocked up on padlocks. I'm Emma from Thornbridge and we have spent

02:14the entire day threading the Lovelocks from Bakewell onto brand new wires so

02:18they can stay at Thornbridge and have their forever new home. Gosh we've been busy.

02:23So what's this that we've got? This is row 17 is it? I have no idea love. 17A. Yeah yeah this is um yeah 17A. No this is bay 17 of the locks.

02:39We know exactly where they came from, we know exactly where they're going and you can find your

02:43lock when you come to visit us on 14th Feb. Valentine's Day.
