00:00It's not my first time, it's probably 5th or 6th marathon I'm running, and basically

00:23I didn't prepare, I'm running to finish, I'm testing myself, and usually I come to

00:27the end.

00:28Good morning, it's my 3rd marathon, Steve's first, so it's pretty chilly, I'm looking

00:36forward to it.

00:37This is the first time I run here in the Golden State.

00:58We're going to start off our run with a shout out to all of you guys for 2012, and we're

01:04going to break the entrance for this year's three events, and we would also like to have

01:11a special round of applause for our runner up, and we're going to see you very shortly

01:17after the finish line.

01:27Well, it's now one man right on his own as they come to the closing stages of this year's

01:54stand and chant at Dubai Marathon, because Abshiro has attacked after the 37k mark,

01:59and now he's put a significant distance between him and his fellow runners, as he's now come

02:05off the beach road and is charging into the final stages of this race.

02:09Still looking on course for the quickest ever time here, maybe around about 2 hours 443,

02:14but Abshiro has powered to the front.

02:17We saw a long time ago a large group, but really the significant boost when it was down

02:23to 5k, came at the 33k mark, but since then Abshiro has really thrown down the gauntlet

02:29and at the moment is clearly out in front and looks on course to secure his first Dubai

02:35Marathon, but it's a major performance.

02:38It was great, I encourage anybody else to do it.

02:41Yes, I finally made it, I ran for 10k.

02:45My first medal ever.

02:47My third time doing the 10k, and this year was a bit easier for us.

02:51We did it with our company, which was really motivating.

02:54We had everybody around us huffing and puffing the same way, but it was fantastic.

02:58The crowd was good, the people were great, and the general atmosphere was just splendid.

03:02The crowd start to anticipate what's going to be happening at the finish.

03:05They'll be, I think at this stage, cheering home Abshiro, who looks as fresh as a daisy

03:10as he comes into the final stages of this year's race.

03:14You can hear now the crowd is absolutely exploding.

03:17Certainly the colours of Ethiopia are all around the grandstands.
