00:00All right, speaking of sports betting,

00:02the numbers are going to be the biggest they ever have been.

00:04Sam, we can do this show next year at this time,

00:06and we'll be saying the same thing

00:08as long as sports betting is legal in the United States.

00:11There are more bets available, more props available,

00:14more options available.

00:15So I guess when we come back next week,

00:17we will say this is the most bet Super Bowl of all time.

00:21Will we not?

00:22Yeah, it's shaping up to be a sure bet

00:24that every year it's the most bet Super Bowl of all time.

00:27This is projecting to be the seventh year straight

00:30with record Super Bowl betting.

00:32Obviously, legal sports betting has grown every year

00:35since 2018 or 2015 when the Supreme Court

00:39allowed states to kind of make the decision

00:42whether they would legalize gambling or not.

00:43You now have 38 states with it legal.

00:45So this year we're expecting upwards of $15 billion

00:50all bet on the big game.

00:51That would be a 15% increase from last year,

00:55which was, again, the most ever.

00:57And last year also set a record in Nevada,

00:59which is where the Super Bowl was played

01:01with 186 million bet here.

01:03LSR this year is projecting

01:05this will be the first year on record

01:07that Nevada is not the leading state

01:10in Super Bowl sports betting.

01:12This year, it's looking like it'll be New York.

01:14We're projecting 192 million bet there.

01:17Obviously, one of the largest sports betting markets.

01:20New Jersey will be up in there,

01:21and notably Florida as well.

01:22This will be the first year.

01:24They have available legalized sports betting.

01:26Even though there's only one game in town

01:29with more limited options than other apps,

01:31people in a huge state are going to bet.

01:34And the Super Bowl is a huge opportunity

01:35for these sports books to get those casual bettors in.

01:39It's the biggest day of the year for sports books.

01:41Usually makes up about 1% of the total betting

01:44they take in an entire year.

01:45And if you just take that one day out of 365,

01:49that's a pretty big feat.

01:50They stand to win about nine figures.

01:52But a lot of that has always depended

01:54on the outcome of the game.

01:56But this year, like last year,

01:58that's becoming less and less important.

02:00Last year, if you remember right,

02:01the public cleaned up on the favorite winning,

02:04on the overhitting, money line, all these bets.

02:07But the sports books actually had a really good day

02:09because of the popularity of these player props

02:12and same game parlays.

02:13And it's shaping up to be the same this year.

02:15It looks like they've really taken kind of the data

02:17from last year and said,

02:18okay, how do we now package it this year

02:20in a way that really positions us to get ahead?

02:23So you have things like Caesars is saying,

02:26Saquon Barkley to score a touchdown,

02:27has more bets on it than the money line

02:30and the spread for both teams can buy,

02:32which is just crazy.

02:33I know he's a touchdown machine,

02:34but if there's more popularity

02:36just on this one specific market for that player,

02:38that really says a lot.

02:39And at this sports betting tracking at Pickett,

02:42they're saying that 66% of all bets tracked so far

02:46are on player props,

02:47as opposed to traditional straight up wagers.

02:50You're seeing all the action

02:51is really all player dependent.

02:53And it's a good thing for the league

02:55that wants to be more player focused,

02:57more like the NBA where player props are popular as well.

02:59So I'd expect more of the story this year

03:02to be about who scored a touchdown,

03:04who didn't score a touchdown,

03:05who went over their passing yards or receiving yards

03:08versus who actually won the outcome of the game

03:10is becoming less and less important.
