00:00Just hours away from the tight Thursday deadline, a federal judge in Boston paused billionaire

00:07Elon Musk's buyout scheme until Monday, siding with several labor unions.

00:13The efforts that this administration has taken are efforts to weaken the civil service.

00:20The whole thought behind removing due process rights of federal employees is about a loyalty

00:25test.

00:27The buyout is part of the new administration's plan to dramatically downsize and reshape

00:32the federal workforce of about two million people.

00:36Those who agree to leave are promised about eight months of salary, or risk being fired

00:42on the spot.

00:44According to the White House press secretary, a small proportion of the staffers have already

00:49accepted the deal.

00:51The last time I checked in with the Office of Personnel and Management, there was more

00:54than 40,000 individuals, federal workers, who had accepted the buyout program.

00:59We expect that number to increase.

01:01We encourage federal workers in this city to accept the very generous offer.

01:05If they don't want to show up to the office, if they want to rip the American people off,

01:09then they're welcome to take this buyout and we'll find highly competent individuals who

01:13want to fill these roles.

01:15The Trump administration hopes that around 5 to 10 percent of the workers would accept

01:20the buyout offer, although the legality of the plan and whether the conditions will be

01:24honored remain uncertain.
