00:00The Commission on Elections, or COMELEC, has clarified that they are not opposed to the

00:05revitalized katok or all planned katok program of Philippine National Police and aimed at regulating

00:11gun ownership but emphasize the need to avoid public concerns during the election period.

00:19Once the program is properly organized, specific guidelines for the revitalized katok will be put

00:26in place. The Philippine National Police, or PNP, has previously stated that the implementation of

00:32the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act during the campaign period

00:39aims to curb the proliferation of loose firearms.
