00:00After receiving the title as a Grandmaster last year,

00:04the Filipino Chess player Daniel Maravilla-Quizon has a new mission.

00:1514 years later, the Philippines now has a new Grandmaster

00:20in the body of the 20-year-old wood pusher Daniel Maravilla-Quizon.

00:24Quizon achieved his long-awaited GM title in 2024

00:29thanks to his performance in the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad,

00:33where he defeated Monaco's GM Igor Efimov

00:37to reach the ELO rating of 2,500.

00:40Because of this victory, Quizon is now the 17th Filipino Grandmaster

00:45among the major awardees

00:47in the upcoming Philippine Sports Writers Association or PSA Awards.

00:53In the PBB Sports interview, Quizon shared that he has a bigger mission this year

00:59after receiving the title as a Grandmaster.

01:03Next month, I have an invitational tournament in Indonesia.

01:09My goal there is to raise my rating

01:13because my next goal is to become the Super Grandmaster.

01:17My goal now is to reach 2,600 to become the Super Grandmaster.

01:23Unlike my previous training,

01:26now I have more training time.

01:31According to Quizon, he is also open to playing again

01:35for the country of Kupunan in the upcoming 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.

01:40If this is the 3rd time he will compete in the Banyan Meet.

01:45I want to achieve my goal.
