Israeli forces have withdrawn to allow Gazans return home

00:00And in Palestine, thousands of Gazans are going on a long and exhausting journey to

00:04return to their homes in the Northern Strip.

00:06Let's see the following material by our collaborator, Jutta Haygassi.

00:13Finally, the most expected time has arrived since the truce and the end of war were

00:18proclaimed in the Gaza Strip, the time in which Gazans could go home to the Northern Area.

00:25I am now at the Netzarim checkpoint, which is split the north from the south in the Gaza Strip,

00:31that today, at 7 a.m. in the morning, Israeli forces have withdrawn to allow Gazans to return

00:39home. As we can see on this path, the journey will be by foot. Gazans have arrived very early

00:49in the morning at this place to go to the Northern Area. And even as we can see here,

00:56there are drums of water provided by the International Red Cross for people to

01:02drink because the journey is very exhausting and long. And so despite this, Gazans are not

01:09afraid and assured that they will do everything at their hands to go finally to their homes,

01:17even though the journey be complicated. We have to say that at this checkpoint,

01:22they will allow the exit and return of Gazans. So those Gazans from the south could go to the north,

01:28and those from the north could go to the south and even to the center. And the journey,

01:35the path is partially opened. And as we can see, the joy of Gazans is unspeakable. So at the end,

01:43they will finally go to their homes to the Northern Area, which they have been deprived

01:48of for 15 months. The city of Gaza is my life. It is everything to me. It is true that a lot

01:57of destruction and a lot of work awaits us, but it doesn't matter. Even if I have to pitch a tent

02:02where my house used to be, the important thing is that we are back. Thank Allah we are back,

02:12but the truth is that we are very tired. If Allah helps us, I will soon be back home.

02:17We wanted to come back a long time ago, but it hasn't been possible until now.

02:21I want to return home to my land with my people.

02:26As we have heard, Gazans are very happy to return to the Northern Area finally,

02:32and they assured that this is a historical day for the history of Palestine in which they finally

02:39could go to the Northern Area, that area that they have been able to go since the

02:45genocidal war of Israel. And they are sure that despite destruction and the losses of

02:50all their belongings and houses, they are sure that they will go there and rebuild

02:55everything the Israeli army has destroyed since the onset of war.
