Kashmir's educators brave harsh weather to teach children

In parts of Indian-administered Kashmir, imparting education to children is not an easy task due to seasonal migration. But these teachers are making sure that all children get an uninterrupted education.

02:12First of all, the jungle area is dangerous for the animals.

02:20That's why our school teaches them well.

02:29I have been working here since 2010 as a seasonal teacher.

02:42We are called teachers for six months and after six months we work in the children's

02:49homes.

02:50After that, we go to different centres, 5-10 kilometres away.

02:56We are alone.

02:57There is only one teacher in each centre.

03:06This was launched in the background of the fact that we have a huge number of, a good

03:11chunk of population which is migratory population.

03:14These seasonal schools were started so that all those children who are out of the schools

03:19are brought into the ambit of schools and schooling is given locally.

03:24I think through this scheme we could always take the benefit of education to the people

03:30who otherwise would get deprived of it because of their natural barriers like physical distance,

03:38non-awareness and other things.

03:53It should be solved and they should be given everything.

04:07Like most of the children receive in school, they should get food, how ever they want.

04:21They get school meals, mid-day meals, books, bags, everything.

04:26The government should provide the same facilities to the children in schools.
