00:00Well, it's already hot here in Queensland and those conditions are expected to settle
00:06in for the next few days.
00:08We're expecting to see temperatures from various parts of the state into the mid to high 40s
00:13from today onwards.
00:14And it's not just Brisbane that's going to be feeling the heat, anywhere from the southeast
00:18coast all the way through to Biloela and even as far west as St George are going to be feeling
00:23those hotter conditions.
00:25And that's all due to a trough that's been lingering around the central part of Australia,
00:29moving its way through to southern Queensland, bringing with it the heat and pushing that
00:33into the interior and eastern parts of the state.
00:36There are, of course, severe heatwave warnings that are in place, but it doesn't look like
00:40there will be any reprieve until later through the week.
00:43Friday is already shaping up to be one of the hottest days for the southeast, with the
00:47mercury predicted to reach into the mid to high 30s.
00:51But it's those overnight minimum temperatures that are causing concern.
00:55Not a lot of them are dipping below the 20s, and that's well above average.
00:59And it just means that essentially it is staying warm for a lot of the day.
01:03So authorities are urging people to make sure they stay hydrated during this time, always
01:07have a bottle of water handy, make sure you stay cool, and try and avoid strenuous exercise,
01:12particularly through some of the hottest parts of the day, which is usually midday onwards.
01:17So try and get those steps in nice and early.
