00:00Enrique Villanueva, Siquijor's smallest town, is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

00:05Known for its rich marine life and cultural heritage, the town is developing its tourism

00:10sector while embracing its natural beauty and community spirit.

00:22Despite being the smallest town in the island province of Siquijor,

00:26Enrique Villanueva shines like a pearl in the orient seas.

00:30As it celebrates its 100th founding anniversary.

00:34The original name of Enrique Villanueva is Talinting,

00:37derived from the name of a species of a bird called Talintingon,

00:42mostly found in the area during low tide.

00:45Its famous marine sanctuary in Barangay Tulapos is home to giant clams and a school of barracudas

00:52that attracts tourists from all over the world.

00:56Knowing that there is a species that exists only in this area will help remind the molders

01:04and the shapers of the future of this area to stay grounded in nature as we have been blessed.

01:13The town also boasts of tourism activities like Pamukkad festival during fiestas

01:19and the actual Pamukkad during the weekend.

01:22Its famous native delicacy the Pan Bisaya

01:25and the Holy Cross in Barangay Kangmangki as a pilgrimage site.

01:30Talinting or Enrique Villanueva aims to preserve and showcase not only the Talintinganon culture

01:37but what it could offer to the local and international tourists.
