Usually the pain is cramping and very intense. Initially, the pain corresponds to the part of the intestine where the obstruction occurred (strangulation of a loop of intestine, strangulation, obstruction of the lumen by a tumor, etc.). Only after a while the pain becomes diffuse and spreads throughout the abdomen. Particularly severe pain is observed with strangulation obstruction - nodulation, torsion, strangulation. The pain can be so severe that patients quickly fall into a state of shock.
