New Osteopathic Technique Helps Identify Ectopic Pregnancy
  • 6 years ago
There is new research indicating through osteopathic structural examinations, or OSE, doctors were able to successfully identify the location of an ectopic pregnancy allowing them to improve maternal outcomes. The study revealed that OSE can be used to determine the area where the ectopic pregnancy is located in the fallopian tubes, ovaries or abdomen in a way that is non-invasive. Ectopic is the leading cause of maternal mortality in a woman's first trimester and accounts for nearly 2 percent of all pregnancies in North America.
