00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. recently declared a food security emergency

00:06so that the price of rice can reach a certain level in an ambush interview.

00:11The President said that this is the result of the government's efforts to lower the price of goods,

00:17particularly rice.

00:19The President also added that this is a way for the market to work properly

00:24when the consumers are not getting hurt.

00:26The reason that we are doing this is that we did everything to lower the price of rice,

00:34but the market is not being allowed to work properly.

00:39The demand and supply curve is not being followed because until now,

00:45even if you lower all the inputs, the sales are still high.

00:50And so we have to force that price down and we have to make sure that the market works properly.

00:56So that there is no friction cost because we are doing different things.
