00:00The Department of Agriculture will expand the sale of NFA rice to the whole country

00:04in the time that the Philippines is under the Food Security Emergency.

00:08According to Agriculture Secretary Francisco T. Laurel Jr.,

00:12aside from the National Capital Region,

00:14the government is also providing assistance to other local governments,

00:18especially in places near the NFA warehouses that are full of rice.

00:21As of now, 450,000 kilos of NFA rice has been sold to Metro Manila,

00:27and it is possible that deliveries to the cities will start on February 7 or 15.

00:32T. Laurel is positive that the National Price Coordinating Council's resolution

00:38for the declaration of the Food Security Emergency will be accepted.

00:41First, the DA stated that the declaration of the Food Security Emergency

00:45will be needed to lower the price of rice in the markets

00:48and to expand the NFA warehouses

00:50so that new rice can be purchased this harvest season.

00:55It will be nationwide, let's say Mindoro.

00:58In Mindoro, Calapan and San Jose definitely have a lot of NFA stocks in Mindoro.

01:05It will be foolish for us to mill it and send it to Luzon or Mindanao

01:11because of additional freight costs.

01:13So if it can be consumed within Mindoro, then we will try to finish it.

01:19And maybe Mindoro will also supply Cebu.
