Victoria Police investigate fatal shooting in Melbourne’s west

A 33-year-old man has been killed in a targeted shooting in Melbourne. Police say the victim was linked to a number of incidents over recent years and had ties to organized crime.

00:00Several gunshots were fired here at Hayson Parkway in Caroline Springs at around 10.30 last night.

00:08Emergency services arrived to find 33-year-old Ha Hayshwani in a critical condition with gunshot wounds,

00:15but they were unable to revive him.

00:17This quiet suburban street was transformed into a crime scene.

00:20The road was littered with bullet casings and a handgun was left lying on the road.

00:25There were also gunshots in a car parked on the nature strip

00:28and an apparent gunshot through the window of another home.

00:30Police say the victim had organised crime links and was known to police.

00:34They also say it was a brazen attack.

00:36It's irresponsible and very targeted, but very concerning for this neighbourhood.

00:44The offenders fled in a stolen getaway car and then torched it in a nearby suburb late last night.

00:50Police are still looking for one or more suspects and say that they could have injuries,

00:55so they're asking for the public to assist them in helping them find any CCTV, dash cam footage or witness accounts in this investigation.
