We Meet The Owner of Spinning Arounds Records in Telford, A Super Successful First Year In Business and Bringing Back The Vinyl

00:00So my name's Emma and I'm the owner of Spinning Around Records in Wellington.

00:04I opened September 2023 so what's that 16 months now?

00:11It's been brilliant it's got going a lot quicker and faster than I ever anticipated

00:17which is really good to know that people have embraced the idea of what I had and

00:21wanted a record shop in Wellington that does a mix of new and old and that yeah everyone's

00:27just enjoying having something back in the town again. I think people are just embracing having

00:31physical media that they can hold and look at and look at all the images and read the lyrics again

00:37rather than just something on your phone that you're not actually engaging with. I know there's

00:42people that have never given up collecting records but it's lovely to see the new generation coming

00:48in and being able to buy either modern stuff or looking in the second hand and it's just really

00:54nice to see. You can have a look through the bargains and you can have a you know take a risk

00:58on something that's only a pound or two and think I like the look of this but I suppose streaming

01:03helps that with vinyl obviously the modern stuff it is an investment so I think it's good that you

01:10can listen online know that you like the album know that you like the artist and then invest in

01:15buying it physically. Record store day will be my second one in the store that's in April and

01:22the list will drop next month and as soon as that list drops it'll be all systems go.
