The Royal Malaysian Customs Department foiled an attempt to smuggle 81.34kg of methamphetamine worth RM2.6mil to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on Dec 17.
At a press conference on Friday (Dec 27), Customs Central Zone Assistant Director-General Norlela Ismail revealed that the drugs were concealed in four parcels falsely declared as stationery and were intended for delivery via air freight.
Norlela added that efforts to locate a local man delivering these parcels to a logistics hub and parcel delivery centre in Shah Alam, Selangor, on Dec 13 would be intensified, as this is the largest drug bust involving parcel delivery via air freight.
