Customs seizes over RM20mil worth of ganja buds at KLIA

Customs officials have intercepted a massive shipment of drugs worth over worth RM20.57mil at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Free Trade Zone.  The contraband was cleverly disguised in what appeared to be ordinary pet food and snacks. 00:00A routine inspection at KLIA's free trade zone led to one of the largest drug seizures of the year.

00:08210 kilograms of ganja buds with a street value exceeding 20 million ringgit

00:13were discovered hidden among what was declared as recycled clothing.

00:30According to Dr. Ahmad Taufiq, the shipment originated from a Southeast Asian country

00:37and was bound for Europe before it was intercepted on March 15th.

00:42He added that ganja buds are more valuable as they can be replanted to produce more ganja leaves.

00:49Ganja buds are valued at RM98,000 per kilogram compared to RM33,000 per kilogram for ganja leaves.

00:58While no arrests have been made yet, authorities are actively investigating under Section 39B
