It's not the fault of a Arnold Palmer, a Jack Nicklaus, they play in the era that they did,
00:08
you know, and some of what they did was foundational groundwork.
00:12
So that in the same way that Tiger laid a lot of groundwork for the generations behind
00:15
him to succeed, you know, it kind of set precedents that became norms on, you know, in the professional
00:20
golf world.
00:22
That's what Arnold and Jack did in their own way.
00:24
It's like the same thing, like looking at basketball, the evolution of the game of basketball,
00:28
you know, at one point they're playing a game, you know, like wilts where like there
00:31
isn't three pointers and you know, you can't dunk a certain points and the game evolves.
00:37
You have like a magic and a Larry bird and yeah, and then Jordan and it's like comparing
00:43
Jordan LeBron, LeBron, I always feel like as a flawed exercise because it's just two
00:47
different styles of games, you know, and LeBron does stuff that Jordan never did, but he benefits
00:53
from everything Jordan did to revolutionize the game of basketball and take it to the
00:59
point that it made where LeBron in his league and plays a different version of pro basketball.
01:03
So I think that's why and there's even a disconnect between the generation Scottie's currently
01:09
playing in and the equipment and the type of competition then, you know, Tiger and Vijay
01:15
kind of they're teetering.
01:17
Those years they had are in the very early years of modern equipment, right?
01:23
The first iteration of the title is probing one, you know, the moving from persimmon woods,
01:30
actual woods to like, you know, metal woods for the first time.
01:32
Like it's, you know, in that first five to 10 years post of that sort of golf technology
01:37
way, it's a different time.
01:39
I guess like why we always talk about Tigers because there was talent in and the dominance
01:46
that he showed and he's clearly was doing something that nobody else was doing.
01:50
I guess what I was referring to maybe in that, you know, from Arnold Palmer to Jack Nicholas
01:55
to Trevino that they each had years in which there was dominance.
02:01
And so I think when we look at today's day and age, it's like, all right, you know, Xander
02:07
Shoffley won two majors this year, but how many wins did he have?
02:10
Like there is multiple, multiple players like Jack Nicholas, like Arnold Palmer, Trevino
02:16
that won two majors in the same year, but also won five times.
02:20
So when we talk about Xander's huge year and like why we're not mentioning Xander Shoffley's
02:25
career year, it's, it's, it's that it's been done before that, you know, players have won
02:30
two majors in a year, but also they won five plus times.
02:34
And I think when we go to compare Scottie season to all of the greats, yes, the wins
02:40
were there, but not getting that second major is where I think you kind of draw the line
02:45
of how good of a season, yes, it was.
02:48
But when you look at history and how we're going to judge the season, it's not going
02:53
to stop.
02:54
I don't think it can stack in the top five because of, or even the top 10 because he
02:58
doesn't want two majors that year.
02:59
And let me ask you this then, because it's, if you look at the, like, how, how would you,
03:06
I think we all agree Tiger 2000 is the standard, right?
03:10
Like, and no one's going to sit here with a straight face and try to tell you that Scottie
03:14
24 is on par with Tiger 2000.
03:17
Looking at those different resumes between BJO four and Scottie 24, which way do you,
03:22
do you kind of fall on that?
03:25
Because I would, I would probably say that the amount of times that VJ played definitely,
03:34
you know, there's, there's more of an argument of how many, you know, the percentage of times
03:37
you teed up and how many times you won, I would, I would probably lean towards Scottie
03:42
of his, you know, just his overall dominance in the game that year where, you know, I would
03:49
say that probably Tiger that same year in oh four was probably played the role of Xander
03:54
a little bit more.
03:56
Maybe not winning quite as much.
03:57
I don't know how many, how many times the Tiger went in oh four.
