00:40South Korean lawmakers call for the impeachment of President Yun Suk-kyo after he declared

01:03martial law late Tuesday, December 3.

01:06Yun reversed the move hours later after the country's parliament unanimously passed

01:10a motion requiring martial law be lifted.

01:13190 of the 300 members of parliament were present, including 18 members of Yun's party.

01:19A coalition of lawmakers from opposition parties say they plan to propose a bill to impeach

01:24Yun on Wednesday, which should be voted on within 72 hours.

01:29The surprise declaration ignited a standoff with the military.

01:33Officers at one point used fire extinguishers and office furniture to prevent troops from

01:36entering parliament.

01:38Yun had told the nation in a TV address martial law was needed to defend the country from

01:42nuclear-armed North Korea and pro-North anti-state forces, but he cited no specific threats.

01:48South Korea's largest union coalition, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, said

01:53thousands of its members will strike until Yun resigns.

01:58Vice President Sara Duterte now faces her second impeachment complaint filed by progressive

02:03organizations with the House of Representatives Wednesday, December 4.

02:07They want Duterte indicted for betrayal of public trust, which is a ground for impeachment

02:11under the 1987 constitution.

02:14These are the allegations.

02:25The second complaint has over 70 signatories, including former lawmakers Teddy Casino, Liza

02:30Maza, Neri Colmenares, Sara Hilago, Antonio Tinio, and Sator Ocampo.

02:35It is endorsed by the Makabayan Bloc, consisting of ACT Teachers' Rep. Franz Castro, Gabriela

02:40Rep. Arlene Brosas, and Kabataan Rep. Raul Manuel.

02:45The filing comes days after civic organizations led by former Sen. Laila de Lima initiated

02:50the first-ever impeachment effort against the vice president.

02:53It was endorsed by first-time lawmaker Percy Sendanya of the party-list group Akbayan.

02:59The Philippine Coast Guard reports, Chinese Navy and Coast Guard vessels took aggressive

03:03actions against a routine patrol by the PCG and the Fisheries Bureau.

03:08The incident happened at Scarborough Shoal in the West Philippine Sea.

03:11The PCG spokesperson says Chinese Coast Guard vessels fired water cannons and sideswiped

03:16Philippine vessels, causing them to face blocking, shadowing, and dangerous maneuvers.

03:21But China's Coast Guard has an entirely different narrative.

03:24It claims four Philippine ships attempted to enter China's territorial waters around

03:28Scarborough Shoal.

03:29China Coast Guard spokesperson Liu Dejun says Philippine ships, quote-unquote, dangerously

03:34approached its Coast Guard normal law enforcement patrol vessels, prompting China to exercise

03:39control over their counterparts.

03:41The incident follows a diplomatic spat in November after China drew territorial water

03:45baselines around the shoal, which Beijing claims as Huangyan Island.

03:51The Oxford University Press names Brain Rot as 2024's Word of the Year, highlighting

03:56concerns about the impact of excessive consumption of low-quality online content.

04:01The term, first used in 1854 in Henry David Thoreau's book Walden, refers to the deterioration

04:07of a person's mental or intellectual state due to overconsumption of trivial or unchallenging

04:13Oxford says Brain Rot gains significance in the digital age, particularly on social media

04:21The word also associates with popular words like Skibidi and Ohio, which reflect a growing

04:26trend of words originating from viral online culture before spreading online into the real

04:31world.

04:32U.S. mental health group Newport Institute says some mental health concerns on Brain

04:36Rot include difficulty organizing information, problem-solving, decision-making, and recalling

04:42information.

04:43Limiting screen time, deleting distracting apps, and turning off unnecessary notifications

04:47are recommended to prevent Brain Rot.

04:52Anthony Jennings' ex-girlfriend Jan Villanueva speaks out on social media about the Can't

04:56Buy Me Love star's alleged betrayal.

04:59Villanueva points to Jennings' co-star Maryse Rackal as the third party.

05:03On her Instagram stories, Villanueva shares screenshots of Jennings' private messages

05:46Rackal and Jennings have yet to address the issue, but Rackal disabled commenting on her

05:51Instagram posts.
