00:37holding.
00:39And Ivana Alawi denies being a homewrecker in a lie detector test.
00:45The House of Representatives says its impeachment of Vice President Saru Duterte is constitutional.
00:51This in a pleading filed with a Senate sitting as an impeachment court on Wednesday, June
00:5525.
00:56The pleading also maintains the Senate's move to remand has no legal basis.
01:01With this, the House complied with one of the two conditions set by the Senate when it remanded
01:05the impeachment articles to the lower chamber last June 10.
01:08It is yet to comply with the second condition of the impeachment court for the House of the
01:1220th Congress to express its desire to continue with the impeachment trial.
01:16This is an act the House will not be able to do until July 28, or when the 20th Congress
01:22convenes.
01:23Meantime, Senate President Chis Escudero says Wednesday, June 25, the date for the actual
01:28impeachment trial of Vice President Saru Duterte will be set by the 20th Congress.
01:36Alphamart Philippines says it may file charges over the misuse of its store equipment.
01:40This after a video went viral showing a woman lying inside one of its freezers.
01:46The Sea-owned convenience store made a statement on Friday, June 20.
01:50Alphamart says, quote,
01:52Please understand we are compelled to pursue legal action against those responsible for
01:56the improper use of our store equipment.
01:59The store also says the ice products in the video were removed and the freezer was cleaned
02:03and sanitized to keep safety and hygiene standards.
02:05The woman in the video, identified as Vivian Bravo-Vinuya, already deleted the post from
02:11her accounts.
02:12But following Alphamart's official statement, she shared another video of herself locked in
02:17a dog's cage and joked she has been arrested.
02:22United Nations Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression and Opinion, Irene Khan, criticizes
02:27the justice system in the Philippines for the slow progress in the case of Tacloban-based
02:31journalist Frenchie Mae Kumpio.
02:33Kumpio has been detained for over five years since she was arrested in February 2020, along
02:39with activists Mariel Domechil and Alexandra Abinguna.
02:43They were first charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and later in 2021
02:47with financing terrorism.
02:49It's a travesty of justice because the individual, even if she is found innocent, will have spent
02:58almost as much as she would have in prison had she been found guilty.
03:04The lack of speed of the proceedings means that people are being punished without being
03:12found guilty.
03:13Khan also questions why the authorities still haven't decided on the detainee's application
03:18for bail.
03:20The Special Rapporteur visited the detainee at the Tacloban City Jail in January 2024, becoming
03:25the first international visitor allowed to meet Kumpio.
03:28The ceasefire brokered by United States President Donald Trump between Iran and Israel appears
03:35to be holding on Wednesday, June 25.
03:38Each side claimed victory on Tuesday after the U.S. joined the fray with airstrikes to
03:43take out Iran's uranium enrichment facilities.
03:46Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff said on Tuesday, talks between the United States
03:50and Iran were, quote, promising, and Washington was hopeful for a long-term peace deal after
03:5512 days of war.
03:57Trump said over the weekend, U.S. stealth bombers obliterated Iran's program to develop nuclear
04:02weapons.
04:04But sources say Iran's enriched uranium stocks were not eliminated, and the country's
04:08nuclear program may have been set back by only a month or two.
04:12Meantime, thousands of travelers queued for hours at Doha and Dubai, two of the world's
04:16busiest airports, on Tuesday, June 24.
04:19Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait shut their airspace late Monday after Iran's strike on a U.S.
04:24military base in Qatar's capital, Doha.
04:28Airports across Dubai and the United Arab Emirates also briefly halted operations.
04:33Flight Radar 24 data show about 145 flights were canceled, and over 450 were delayed at
04:39Dubai International, the busiest airport in the world.
04:45Actress and social media personality Ivana Alawi took a lie detector test in a recent YouTube
04:50vlog amid rumors of an affair with Bacolod City Mayor Albi Benitez.
04:55In her vlog, Ivana answers several controversial questions, including one where her sister Mona
04:59asked,
05:00In February 2024, Ivana was rumored to be Benitez's mistress after a viral post showed
05:15him together at a Japan airport.
05:18Over a year later, Benitez's wife, Nikki Lopez Benitez, filed a complaint accusing him of
05:23marital infidelity.
05:25Lopez Benitez also accused the mayor of violating the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children
05:29Act, citing a series of emotional, psychological, and economic abuses.
05:35Both the actress-influencer and the mayor denied the allegations, with Benitez's team claiming
05:40the rumor was part of a smear campaign.
05:45And that's today's wrap.
