00:00The Senate Majority Block announces committee leaderships on the second session day of the
00:0520th Congress. Neophyte Senator Rodante Marcoleta is elected as the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee
00:10Chairman, while siblings Camille and Mark Villar are elected to chair the Environment and Public
00:15Works Committees, respectively. Also notable are the elections of Senator Bam Aquino to chair the
00:20Basic Education Committee, while Senator Kiko Pangilinan will chair the Agriculture Committee.
00:24Committee chairmanships for the Minority Block, led by Senate Minority Leader Tito Soto, have yet
00:29to be announced. Meantime, Senate President Chis Escudero says the Senate will vote on the
00:33Supreme Court's decision to bar Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial on August 6.
00:39For the record, it is agreed in COPUS that the matter will be decided upon by the Senate on August 6,
00:462025, when we open session on that date. The delay, Escudero says, is to quote, afford ample and
00:53sufficient time to the members to review the 97-page decision, excluding the concurring opinions filed
00:59by Supreme Court magistrates. On Friday, July 25, the SC voted unanimously to grant the petition seeking
01:05to stop the impeachment proceedings against the Vice President, citing violations of the one-year bar rule.
