The 5th World Association Presidents' Conference (WAPC) reached a heartwarming conclusion with a grand gala dinner on Monday (Dec 2) celebrating the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations. 00:19700-plus delegates came together to enjoy an evening of delicious food and captivating

00:26performances.

00:27The highlight of the evening was a keynote address delivered by Deputy Prime Minister

00:31Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who attended as the guest of honour.

00:37In his speech, Ahmad Zahid expressed his gratitude and admiration for WAPC's efforts in organising

00:43such a meaningful conference.

00:45He emphasised the importance of the enduring relationship between Malaysia and China, recounting

00:50his two visits to China earlier in the year.

00:53During my recent visit to China, I witnessed transformative opportunities for collaboration.

01:02A key highlight was the signing of an MOU between Mara Aerospace and Technologies and

01:11Honeycomb Aerospace Technologies in Beijing.

01:15This year alone, I visited China twice.

01:20It shows my interest and my focus toward good relationship between China and Malaysia.

01:30Ladies and gentlemen, as we reflect on the discussion and partnership forged at this

01:35conference, it is clear that the possibilities before us are boundless.

01:42Our shared history of cooperation has provided a strong foundation, but it is our shared

01:49vision for the future that will define our legacy.

01:55Malaysia stands ready to continue working with China and the global community to foster

02:03innovation, drive sustainable growth and address the challenges of our time.

02:10Together, we can create a future that is prosperous, inclusive and resilient.

02:17Ahmad Zahid also spoke about the vast potential for collaboration between the two nations,

02:23highlighting key areas such as the halal food industry, green energy and technical and vocational

02:29education and training, or TVET.

02:32MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Kha Siong said concrete collaborations between Malaysian

02:38and Chinese companies kick-started from the Fifth World Association President's Conference.

02:43He said the conference has paved the way for shared growth and unlocking the full potential

02:48of partnership between companies from both countries.

02:52This year marks a significant milestone, the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations.

02:59Malaysia was the first ASEAN country to establish formal ties with China that set the stage

03:07for a partnership that has only grown stronger over time.

03:12From the Belt and Road Initiative to the flourishing trade that has made China our

03:18largest trading partner, our collaboration has created shared prosperity and unlocked

03:26countless opportunities for both nations.

03:30Dr Wee also said MCA has always played a crucial role in engaging with China, other countries

03:36in the ASEAN region and East Asia.

04:08He also announced the launch of the second edition of the Malaysia-China 50th Anniversary

04:14Coffee Table Book.

04:16The gala night entertainment was nothing short of spectacular, showcasing a harmonious blend

04:21of cultures and talents.

04:23The China Ambassador to Malaysia, Ouyang Yujing, expressed his congratulations and success

04:28towards the event to Malaysian-Chinese Association, the Malaysia-China Friendship Association

04:35and the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia.

04:38He noted on the 50th anniversary of China-Malaysia diplomatic relations that both countries nurtured

04:45the friendship like a tree from a tiny sapling to a big tall tree, deep in roots and rich

04:51in fruits.

04:52This year's WAPC, initiated in 2020 by China's Hangzhou government, was created as a platform

04:59for global businesses to exchange ideas and foster cooperation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

05:07This historic conference, held outside of China for the first time, marks a milestone

05:12in the diplomatic relationship between Malaysia and China.
