00:22The Commission on Elections will continue to monitor the two election officers in Sultan Kudrat and Lanao del Norte.

00:34According to Comalec Chairman George Erwin Garcia, they are contacting the Philippine National Police

00:40for investigation and looking for suspects in the killing of the election officer in Lanao del Norte

00:48and assistant election officer in Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudrat.

00:52Here is the statement of Chairman George Erwin Garcia.

00:56We are asking the Philippine National Police to arrest those who are responsible here

01:03because if this is neglected and everyone will forget about it, our countrymen will be more afraid.

01:12In the initial investigation, the election officer who was killed in Nunungan has long been a death threat

01:21in the barangay and FK elections of 2023.

01:25The Comalecs were dismayed by the incident.

01:28Because the election period is not yet over, there are incidents where their own people are the victims.

01:35Garcia said this can be seen as a loophole in the barangay.

01:39They don't have the power to declare Comalec control in areas of concern if the election period is not yet over.

01:47They cannot declare a gun ban.

01:50That's why they are calling for a solution to this problem because they don't want the incidents to happen again.

01:58That's why they want to start the election period at the time of the COC filing

02:04and to consider the COC members as candidates right away,

02:08except for the law that they will be considered as candidates when the campaign period comes.
