00:21The accused was first charged with causing the death of 35-year-old Linda Mohammed Abdul
00:25Aziz at an intersection of Jalan Bissar and Jalan Masjid at around 4.15am on November

00:34He was then charged with causing the death of Linda's husband, 37-year-old Mohammed
00:38Redzwan Mohammed Rudy, at the same time and place.
00:42The couple had five children, aged between 3 and 17.
00:45Nageshwaran was accused of driving a car with a blood alcohol content of 170mg per 100ml,
00:54which exceeded the limit of 50mg per 100ml.
00:58The offence was framed under section 44 sub section 1b of the Road Transport Act 1987
01:06which carries a maximum prison term of 15 years and a fine of up to 100,000 ringgit
01:12if found guilty.
01:14Deputy Public Prosecutor Inspector S. Vikinswari offered bail at 15,000 ringgit for each of
01:21the two charges.
01:22However, Nageshwaran's lawyer Sarawana Kumakanan asked for a lower bail, saying that his client
01:29was his family's sole breadwinner, having to take care of his parents and four siblings.
01:35Magistrate Noor Farhana then set bail at 6,000 ringgit with one surety for each of the charges
01:41and set January 14 for next mention and submission of documents.
01:46The court also suspended the accused's driving licence and ordered him to surrender his passport
01:52and to report to the Johor Jaya Police Station twice a month.
