00:00Prime Minister Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Peru at 11.15pm on Tuesday, marking his

00:12official visit to the South American country since assuming office in 2022.

00:18Peru's Minister of Production, Sergio González Guerrero, and several other senior officials

00:24received Anwar at the military airbase.

00:27Anwar is in Peru for engagements during the APEC Economic Leaders' Week, which will

00:32include his participation in the APEC CEO Summit on Wednesday.

00:38He said he will emphasize Malaysia's commitment towards strengthening economic cooperation,

00:43as well as fostering fair and inclusive development for all.

00:47He is scheduled to meet the Peruvian President Dina Boluate to discuss cooperation between

00:53Malaysia and Peru.

00:55He will also engage with the Malaysian and Peruvian business communities and speak at

01:00the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting retreat on Saturday.

01:04At least 15,000 police and armed force members have been deployed to Lima to maintain security

01:11as world leaders, and delegations of 21 countries attend the event, including US President Joe

01:17Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

01:21The Peruvian government said schools, universities and public buildings will be closed until

01:27Saturday after the President declared three national holidays during the event.
