PAGASA raises Signal No. 1 as tropical depression Kristine enters PAR

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, Oct. 21 raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over Catanduanes and the northern part of Northern Samar due to the arrival of tropical depression “Kristine." 00:00Good morning to all of us, this is Baguio Christine.

00:07A few days ago, it entered our Philippine Area of Responsibility.

00:12At the moment, you can see the widespread flooding of Baguio

00:17and it reached a large part of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

00:24This is because of the Baguio Extension Area or what we call the Baguio Christine Trough.

00:31As of 4 o'clock in the morning,

00:34the distance of the center of Baguio is 1,050 kilometers east of the southeastern zone.

00:43The wind strength is in the Tropical Depression category

00:48where it reaches 55 kilometers per hour.

00:51This is close to the center of Baguio.

00:53Meanwhile, the wind strength reaches 70 kilometers per hour.

00:59We expect this to move in the direction of west-southwest at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour

01:06or anywhere near our country and may lead to northern Luzon.

01:13At the moment, we are experiencing strong rains in Visayas and Mindanao

01:21and also in Quezon due to the Baguio Christine Trough.

01:29In our Baguio Christine Forecast Rack,

01:32as mentioned earlier, this may lead to northern Luzon.

01:39From now until the next few days, we expect this to be strong.

01:46Within 12 hours, we expect this to reach the Tropical Storm category.

01:55Tomorrow afternoon or evening, this may reach the Severe Tropical Storm category.

02:03On Monday, October 24, this may reach the Typhoon category.

02:11If the track does not change,

02:15the Baguio Christine Trough may landfall on Friday, October 25 in northern Luzon.

02:27Due to the Baguio Christine Trough,

02:30Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 1 reached Catanuanes,

02:35the northeastern portion of Northern Samar,

02:38and the northeastern portion of Eastern Samar.

02:42We expect these areas to experience rainy seasons

02:50along with strong rains.

02:57Today, we expect strong winds due to this typhoon.

03:03The areas that experienced strong winds today are in the southern portion of Palawan,

03:11Siquijor, Bohol, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao,

03:16Dinagat Islands, Sirgao del Norte, Agusan del Norte,

03:21Barm, Sargandi, Davao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.

03:26Tomorrow, we expect strong winds in Palawan, Romblon,

03:32Aklan, Antique, Negos Island Region, Bohol,

03:37Zamboanga del Norte, Northern Mindanao,

03:40Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands,

03:44Sirgao del Norte, Agusan del Norte,

03:47Sarangani, Davao del Norte, and Davao Oriental.

03:53On Wednesday, we also expect strong winds in Maropa, Bumbisayas, and Mindanao.

04:03Due to the trough of the typhoon,

04:07we expect moderate to heavy rains in Bicol Region,

04:13Eastern Bisayas, and Quezon.

04:16Tomorrow, we expect strong rains.

04:20Heavy to intense rains in Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.

04:28Moderate to heavy rains in Eastern Bisayas, Quezon, and other parts of Bicol Region.

04:35On Wednesday, October 23,

04:38we still expect heavy to intense rains in Cagayan, Aurora, and Quezon.

04:45Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains in Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes,

04:51and other parts of Cagayan Valley.

04:55And because of this,

04:57we remind our fellow countrymen in the aforementioned areas,

05:01to be careful and be alert.

05:03Know that the area is safe due to heavy to intense rains

05:10that could lead to flooding or landslides,

05:14especially in low-lying areas near mountains and rivers.
