Woman and two children drown in George’s River

The bodies of a woman and two children have been pulled from the George's River, after an extensive search operation in Sydney's southwest. Police are now calling for any witnesses who were in the Lansvale area to come forward.

00:00A tragedy unfolded on the banks of the Georges River this afternoon as the bodies of a mother

00:07and her two young children were pulled from the fast-moving water.

00:11Emergency services were called to a boat ramp here in Lansdale around 10am, responding to

00:16calls that a woman and her two children were in distress in the water.

00:20Bystanders attempted to help the family before police arrived.

00:24The 32-year-old woman was quickly pulled from the water, however she could not be resuscitated.

00:29Police initially commandeered a boat and a jet ski from the public before launching

00:33a search operation with the SES, Marine Police and a helicopter.

00:38Police divers found the body of the five-year-old girl and the seven-year-old boy around 2pm

00:42this afternoon.

00:43I'm aware that they attended the park a little bit earlier before they were reported to be

00:48in the water.

00:49The circumstances of what they were doing there, unfortunately, we do not know at this

00:52point in time.

00:53The investigation has commenced in relation to this coronial matter.

00:57Police say the families of the deceased mother and her children have been notified.
