00:00
Hello, there was relatively cloudy skies throughout Wednesday for many of us, but there's a touch
00:06
more sunshine on the way for Thursday. That is partly thanks to this area of high pressure
00:10
out in the Atlantic that is trying to squeeze its way in and settle things down a touch.
00:15
But throughout Wednesday evening, we do still have this lingering cold front that is going
00:18
to be shifting its way south eastwards, bringing outbreaks of rain for Wales and England. Some
00:22
of those could turn heavy into the overnight period as well, particularly across parts
00:26
of Lincolnshire down into south east England as well. It's underneath all this cloud where
00:30
we are holding on to really that humid and muggy air still. So temperatures here not
00:35
dropping much lower than mid teens. So it's still quite a humid night, but further towards
00:41
the west, much drier, much clearer skies throughout that overnight period. Still a scattering
00:46
of showers want to push their way into western areas of Scotland, but many of us will stay
00:51
dry further towards the north and west. It's also here where we are starting to feed in
00:55
that slightly fresher air from the Atlantic with those westerly winds and so temperatures
01:00
overnight dropping down to more 11, 12 degrees Celsius and a touch more comfortable for sleeping
01:05
in general further towards the west. As we do start off Thursday morning, then those
01:10
western and northern areas seeing a decent amount of sunshine. First thing, it's going
01:14
to be a bit of a cloudy start across the south and east as that rain slowly pushes its way
01:18
off. Could take more towards the middle part of the afternoon before it eventually properly
01:23
clears off parts of south, south east Kent and Essex. Elsewhere, though, we turn into
01:28
a day of sunshine and showers, particularly across eastern Scotland, down into eastern
01:32
England into the afternoon. That's where we could see some of those showers really turning
01:36
quite heavy, maybe with the odd rumble of thunder in the mixture as well. So do just
01:40
keep up to date with the forecast into the afternoon because there could be some torrential
01:43
downpours possible. Generally, though, for the Midlands into Wales, central southern
01:48
areas of England and western parts of Northern Ireland as well. A decent amount of sunny
01:52
intervals during the day should feel a bit more pleasant compared to the humid and cloudy
01:57
skies we'd see throughout Wednesday. Temperatures just slightly a notch down compared to Wednesday
02:03
now that we are in those slightly fresher conditions. But where you do see the sunshine,
02:07
it shouldn't feel too bad at all. Highs around 20 degrees Celsius across Northern Ireland
02:12
into parts of central Scotland as well, close towards 22 degrees Celsius for England and
02:16
Wales. Will be a slight breeze across our western coastal areas that might just knock
02:21
off some of those temperatures a touch in terms of how it exactly feels. But with those
02:26
sunny intervals around, it does mean that will be plenty of late evening sunshine as
02:30
we do head into the evening as well. Most areas staying dry as well, particularly across
02:35
England and Wales. Just a scattering of showers still continue across northern areas of Scotland.
02:40
Some of those again could be quite heavy and with the odd rumble of thunder in the mixture
02:44
as well. Cloudy skies will be building for Northern Ireland, parts of southwest Wales
02:50
and southwest England as well. But for the main overnight period, as we do move towards
02:54
dawn, it should stay largely dry underneath those clear intervals. Temperatures again
03:00
dropping down to around the low teens, maybe midteens in a few locations, but particularly
03:05
for southeastern areas of England, it's going to feel that much more fresher and that much
03:09
more comfortable for sleeping compared to where we started off on Thursday morning.
03:14
At least in my sunshine, then first thing on Friday. But increasingly, we are going
03:18
to watch as this cloud pushes its way in from the west and skies turn much greyer for
03:24
a lot of us. This being accompanied by a fair amount of rain as we move into the afternoon
03:28
for Northern Ireland, parts of western Scotland, outbreaks of rain for Wales, southwest England
03:33
as well. Some particularly heavy outbreaks possible, particularly for western areas of
03:38
Scotland, but eastern parts of Scotland down into eastern areas of England as well should
03:43
stay a touch drier throughout the day, but still that cloud building temperatures slightly
03:48
suppressed again underneath all that cloud, particularly for Northern Ireland into central
03:53
areas of Scotland. But where you do hold on to some of that brightness further towards
03:57
the south and east, still again a pleasant twenty one, twenty two degrees Celsius.
04:03
There is further low pressure centres on the way as we head towards the weekend as well
04:06
could also turn into quite a breezy weekend as well with a tightening of those ice bars.
04:11
So do stay up to date with the forecast and we'll provide those updates across all of
04:15
our social media channels. And we're back here as well very shortly. Bye bye.
