00:00Professor, you have always been engaged in the study of solutions for sustainable development

00:05and primarily on the issues of social justice and the fight against poverty.

00:10Can we hope that the current global financial model will be more aware of the protection of the human being?

00:17There is a good recognition right now that we need a new financial architecture.

00:26So this is the phrase that has used the United Nations.

00:29The current financial system does not work for everybody.

00:34The money goes to those who already have it and not to those who need it.

00:38What I am seeing is a greater determination to change this architecture

00:41to ensure that even the poorest people receive the financial support they need.

00:46And this is the first point of the new pact adopted at the Summit of the Future,

00:51to reform the global financial architecture.

00:54And we will see it in Madrid from June 30 to July 3, 2025,

00:58where there will be a summit to discuss the topic.

01:01And the positive thing for me is that I really see hope in this progress.

01:07So I'm seeing some progress, some real hope for change.

01:12In hope, how important is cooperation?

01:16Cooperation among countries is essential,

01:20because we are in a conflict right now.

01:24We are in a conflict in Ukraine, in the Middle East.

01:27There is the war between the United States and China.

01:29In a situation like this, we can't do anything.

01:32We have more funding for the army, more funding for the weapons,

01:36and we don't have peace and environmental sustainability.

01:40The first thing to do is to put an end to the war

01:43and sit at the negotiating table,

01:45to change the idea that everything will end with the defeat of Russia.

01:49It's absolutely ridiculous.

01:50We need to reach peace,

01:52and we can only do it through negotiations,

01:55and politicians must understand this.
