00:34Okay, Cong. Wilbert, what can you tell us about the current state of our agriculture?

00:43Well, first of all, we would like to thank our government, the PBBN,

00:49because until now, if you look at the last administration,

00:55this administration is the only one that gave priority to our direction in agriculture.

01:01So you can see that we are not in the right direction.

01:04But we need concrete action. There are many challenges and many things to do.

01:11The most important thing is that we should start increasing local production

01:17so that our demand for our food will decrease,

01:22especially our primary food source.

01:25This is what we should do.

01:27We should strengthen our local production by supporting,

01:32helping, and taking care of our local food producers,

01:36the so-called food security soldiers.

01:40Well, Cong. Wilbert, our government has emphasized the fight against rice hoarding.

01:46Can you explain how this rice hoarding has affected the price of rice?

01:54Well, of course, as you can see, if this is hidden,

01:59there will be a crunch in the supply.

02:02There will be a shortage in our supply.

02:05So, as you can see, even though we have been allowed to import rice,

02:12but this has been in the bin for a long time.

02:15If this happens, of course, it will result in a shortage of supply in the market.

02:28we are the principal author of the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act.

03:17Others said, our PTA said that it is due to the fact that the consignee did not receive it immediately.

03:31that they might hide it for a long time and export it because it is cheaper if they put it in a warehouse.

03:40So first of all, if we have a type, as we thought,

03:44regarding these, what we want to happen is that the government agencies,

03:49like the DOC, should process these 24x7,

03:56especially if the items are rice.

04:02It cannot be delayed.

04:06There is no entry on Saturday and Sunday.

04:08We need to do this so we can avoid these kinds of incidents.

04:59Congressman, as the last one, you are the advocate of our agriculture.

05:04What should our government do or the whole of nation approach

05:10so we can strengthen and develop our agriculture?

05:13First of all, the real answer is what we want to happen,

05:20especially the increase of food inflation and the shortage of supplies.

05:25The first thing we should do is to strengthen local production.

05:31For us, the food security issue is a national security issue.

05:36If you consider this as a national security issue,

05:42automatically, this is an expense item.

05:45This means that the funds should be used annually.

05:49This means that we can use billions of funds for a project that will not die if it is not done.

05:59Why don't we prioritize and give a big fund to our agriculture?

06:05That is the first thing.

06:06Second, the care and support to our local food producers,

06:12who I call food security soldiers.

06:15They will ensure that no matter what happens in other countries,

06:19even if there is a war or calamity,

06:22if they don't want to sell to us, we have food in our country.

06:27That is the most important.

06:29Our food security soldiers, we should take care of them.

06:33We should provide assistance.

06:34Farm imports should arrive on time.

06:37We should take care of their health.

06:41This is what we are trying to do.

06:44Not only for them, but for everyone.

06:47We want to fix the fear of diseases and diseases for every Filipino.
