Hi my name is Jennifer Lowe and I'm running in the ward of Patobe in the
00:04
Warrnambool City Council elections in 2024. I'm really excited to put my name
00:08
forward. I've been a long-term resident in Patobe and I simply love the area. I
00:13
mean I love living in Warrnambool as well but Patobe is particularly unique
00:16
and beautiful because of my affinity with the coastline. Some of the things
00:22
I'm wanting to focus on in this term if I'm successful is really focusing on the
00:29
rate rises. I think that rate rises put too much pressure on individuals and
00:34
families. They're already struggling with the cost of living and the increased
00:38
prices of you know energy, gas, food, you know basic supplies in life which is
00:44
quite unfair. So if we could you know kind of try and minimize the the impact
00:50
on people's budget and effectively people spend their money more wisely
00:55
than any layer of government ever do. Another thing that I'd love to put
01:00
forward is transparent decision-making. Not so much what the decision was that
01:05
was made but why it was made and what what were the fundamental reasons behind
01:09
that. I think that's really important so that the community understands why
01:12
Council's delivering the services that it's delivering or making the decisions
01:17
that it's making. And my third one is community engagement. I think it's
01:27
really important that Council engages with the business community. I think it
01:32
does a really great job with you know for example the not-for-profit and the
01:35
artistic community but I think it really needs to elevate its arena in the
01:40
business sector.
