00:00 There have been no other nominations for the position of Mayor.

00:02 I'd like to congratulate and announce that Councillor Blayne is Mayor of Warrnambool

00:07 City Council.

00:08 Well done.

00:09 It's going to be a really exciting time for Warrnambool.

00:14 We've done three years and now we're moving into the final year of our term.

00:19 There's some really big projects that are up and coming.

00:21 We've got the aquatic strategy coming up.

00:24 Briley Reserve, the master plan for there, which is going to be a really exciting community

00:27 hub for Warrnambool and the greater region.

00:32 Key worker housing is going to be a key issue moving forward and it's something that Council

00:35 is hoping to be able to assist with.

00:38 The future use of the sale yard site is also going to be a really important thing moving

00:41 forward.

00:43 Not only for what the space can be used for but also for future plans within the stadium

00:49 as well.

00:50 Hopefully by the end of the term we'll be able to deliver on the Warrnambool neighbourhood

00:54 house and being able to advocate and get the funding for the rock wall protection for the

01:00 breakwater being such a special asset.

01:02 It's heritage listed, we really need to look after it.

01:05 Warrnambool, we're a growing city.

01:06 We've got 35,000 people.

01:08 We're barrelling towards 40 and in the next 10-15 years we're going to be moving to 50,000

01:12 people.

01:13 So in order to be able to deliver and be able to service, we need to be planning and working

01:18 towards that now.

01:19 We're a city with growing pains, going from a smaller regional city to a larger regional

01:24 city and how we address those challenges is going to be critical moving forward in the

01:28 next 5, 10, 20 years to be able to make keep Warrnambool being one of those liveable cities

01:33 in the world.
