We're here at Horsehay Village Hall and a bit of a special event. What's happening guys?
00:04
Well it's the Horsehay Horticultural Society annual flower, vegetable and craft show.
00:10
Cool, so what can people expect to see then when they come here?
00:14
Well we have quite a number of entries for flower arrangements.
00:18
Lots of different crafts, photography, vegetables and fruit and flowers obviously.
00:24
And it's a competition as well isn't it? There's judging as winners to be had yeah?
00:28
Yep, so there's prizes, trophies that we've been handing out, some of them for as much as about 40 years.
00:35
Wow.
00:36
The show's been going on for a long time.
00:38
Always here at the Village Hall?
00:40
Yes, because it was originally the conception of the Horsehay Works and this was the canteen.
00:46
I think it was always here as part of the factory and then they opened it up in the 50s to the local community as well.
00:55
And as you've been walking around, any particular favourite things you've seen between you?
01:00
The daftest thing is someone's entered a cactus in that category and it's in the I am Groot vase.
01:11
So that was quite amusing.
01:13
But there's been some fabulous flower arrangements, some, well, over a dozen I think cucumbers and so many apples this year.
01:23
Absolutely fabulous.
01:25
What about you, any particular favourites?
01:27
We've got a lot of children entries, I love seeing the animals and characters made out of fruit and veg.
01:35
And the gardeners in the trays, the children's imagination, we want to try and encourage as many children as possible.
01:43
Well thank you folks, we'll have a good look around, thank you.
01:47
Liam isn't it?
01:48
Yeah.
01:49
How you doing Liam, you okay mate?
01:50
Yeah.
01:51
So we've had a few entries and first place, how do you feel?
01:56
Good, yeah.
01:58
Which is your favourite, if you had to pick one you're most proud of, which one is it?
02:03
Probably my box.
02:04
Yeah, just grab that, let's just have a look at it.
02:08
And just show us the, it's lovely that shape and the curve of it.
02:13
So where have you learnt all your skills in your woodworking then?
02:16
Primary school.
02:17
Yeah, which school is it, give them a shout out.
02:19
Langley.
02:20
Langley, so what would you like, is that something you'd like to do kind of jobs wise, working with your hands?
02:25
I think so, yeah.
02:28
Yeah, yeah.
02:29
Well you've certainly got a skill for it, so well done young man.
02:32
Cheers buddy.
