Do you mind just introducing yourself there?
00:02
Martin Evans, from Oswald Street, just visiting for the day.
00:05
Yeah, perfect. How familiar are you with Clear Breeze?
00:08
Quite familiar. I used to live around here, so I know quite well.
00:12
Some lovely shop owners and keepers.
00:15
Shame the butchers has gone, which must have gone a long time ago, but it was really good.
00:20
But it's got a nice cafe, friendly.
00:23
Actually standing outside a nice bakery, does lovely cakes.
00:27
Anything else you'd like to mention about Clear Breeze? Anything that you like in particular?
00:31
I just like it's kept its tradition.
00:34
It's a traditional place, and this is a lovely place to visit.
00:38
It is a traditional, one would call it a village.
00:42
It's a bit more than a village these days.
00:44
They're like mini-towns, aren't they?
00:47
Well, I used to do it before. It's like a drone from a village to a mini-town.
00:50
And everywhere on the outskirts gets built up a little bit more.
00:53
But it's still kept in its tradition. The high street's lovely.
00:56
It's just a really nice place to visit and come and have a little walk.
01:00
Is there any businesses you've mentioned in particular?
01:02
I know you've mentioned Ashley's Bakery here.
01:04
Is there any of the businesses you've mentioned?
01:06
Well, actually, there's a nice cafe.
01:08
The cap up the road is a lovely cap.
01:10
Friendly, the food's lovely.
01:12
And there's this spicy podium.
01:14
I've had a few things out of here in the past. That's quite nice.
01:16
Brilliant. Perfect. That's perfect.
01:18
Do you mind just introducing yourself first?
01:26
I'm Jane.
01:27
Of Ashley's Bakery?
01:28
Yeah.
01:29
Do you manage this store?
01:30
No, I just work here.
01:32
Okay. Brilliant. Perfect.
01:33
How long have you worked at Ashley's Bakery?
01:35
About a month.
01:37
Okay. Brilliant.
01:38
Yeah.
01:39
What about yourself?
01:40
How long have you been in Bakery?
01:41
Ashley's has been in Bakery a long, long time.
01:43
Yeah.
01:44
And we've just recently opened this shop.
01:45
Okay.
01:46
Brilliant.
01:47
Yeah.
01:48
What about yourself?
01:49
How long have you been in this?
01:50
Well, my family for generations, really.
01:52
Grandparents, great-grandparents.
01:53
A long, long time.
01:54
Yeah.
01:55
Yeah.
01:56
Perfect.
01:57
What do you like about Bakery?
01:58
The community spirit.
01:59
Brilliant schools, library, fire station, co-op, brilliant medical centre, pharmacy.
02:07
We've just got all the facilities in one place, really.
02:10
A brilliant travel network.
02:12
Buses go through from Kidderminster, Lundlow.
02:15
Just a really pleasant little place.
02:17
Perfect.
02:18
Yeah.
02:19
Why should more people come out to visit Bakery?
02:21
Erm...
02:22
Well, I think it's setting all what you've seen today, really, doesn't it?
02:27
It's just a nice place to spend a couple of hours, really.
02:30
Yeah.
02:31
Yeah, thanks.
02:32
Are there any businesses you'd recommend in the area that people should come try in particular?
02:35
Erm...
02:36
I think we all try and support our own really around here, you know.
02:40
We've got a lot...
02:41
Like the last chap said, well, he's basically said it all out here.
02:45
You know, we have...
02:46
It's just a nice little place.
02:47
You can get pretty much all you want here, really.
02:49
Yeah.
02:50
And what do you do with Ashley's Bakery?
02:52
What do I do?
02:53
Yeah, what do you offer here?
02:54
Erm...
02:55
It's all freshly produced just up the road.
02:58
It's all just about a mile off the road.
03:01
We've got our big bakery.
03:03
And as you can see, we offer traditional breads and cakes and then more diverse breads and cakes, really.
03:09
Yeah.
03:10
Perfect.
03:11
What's been like for best sellers today?
03:13
Best sellers are always ice buns and crusty cobs.
03:16
Perfect.
03:18
Brilliant.
03:19
Brilliant.
03:20
Brilliant.
03:22
So, I'm Marianne Farahanda and the owner of Clibbury Caff.
03:25
Perfect.
03:26
How long have you been in Clibbury?
03:27
Erm...
03:28
So, I've worked in this caff for about 12 months.
03:31
I've owned it for about three weeks.
03:33
Yeah.
03:34
How long have you been in the town itself?
03:35
Erm...
03:36
So, I don't actually live in Clibbury.
03:37
Okay.
03:38
Erm...
03:39
I was in Penzaks before with my parents and now I'm in Kilminster.
03:41
Lovely.
03:42
Perfect.
03:43
So, what made you want to take over a business here?
03:46
Erm...
03:47
So, I always wanted a coffee shop.
03:49
Yeah.
03:50
Erm...
03:51
And I started working at this one.
03:52
Yeah.
03:53
And realised that it was for sale.
03:55
And so, I just kind of seized the opportunity and, yeah, bought this one.
04:00
Yeah.
04:01
What's it been like?
04:02
Because you said you've been working here for the last 12 months.
04:03
What's it been like being based in delivery for a bit?
04:06
Erm...
04:07
It's been lovely.
04:08
It's a really lovely town.
04:09
Everyone's very friendly.
04:11
Everyone knows each other.
04:12
Erm...
04:13
Yeah.
04:14
It's been really nice.
04:15
It's been refreshing because I was in London for the past five and a half years.
04:17
So...
04:18
Yeah.
04:19
Big change.
04:20
Big change, yeah.
04:21
Yeah.
04:22
Perfect.
04:23
Erm...
04:24
Why should more people come out to Clibbury?
04:25
Erm...
04:26
Because there's a lot to offer in Clibbury, to be honest with you.
04:27
It's at the very foot of the Shropshire Hills.
04:30
Erm...
04:31
It's a bit out of the way.
04:32
Obviously, you've got Kidderminster.
04:33
Not too far.
04:34
But, it's kind of like a little step back in time coming to this town.
04:37
Yeah.
04:38
Yeah.
04:39
Perfect.
04:40
Are there any businesses bar your own cafe that you'd recommend people to come try when
04:44
they visit?
04:45
Erm...
04:46
Well, the Spice Empire is incredible.
04:47
Yep.
04:48
And Ashley's Bakery.
04:49
Very, very lovely.
04:50
The cream cakes and the bread.
04:52
Yeah.
04:53
Perfect.
04:54
Is there anything people should come out and see while they're here?
04:57
Erm...
04:58
There's some lovely walks around here.
05:00
Erm...
05:01
Obviously, you've got Klee Hills, just a little bit this way.
05:04
Erm...
05:05
But more than anything, it's just walking around and looking at all the old buildings.
05:08
And just seeing how everything has kind of stayed as it was, you know.
05:12
Yes.
05:13
Like a hundred years ago.
05:14
Yeah.
05:15
Perfect.
05:16
What do you do with them every day?
05:17
So, I direct and I cook.
05:20
And...
05:21
Served from your house as well?
05:22
Yes.
05:23
There's lots on the menu.
05:24
So, we have breakfast fry up stuff.
05:27
We have sandwiches.
05:28
We're quite well known for our sandwiches.
05:31
Erm...
05:32
And we do lunch stuff.
05:33
So, like omelettes, jack and potato, burgers.
05:36
Erm...
05:37
And then we've got milkshakes and cakes.
05:39
And...
05:40
Paninis.
05:41
Stuff like that.
05:42
Perfect.
05:43
Yeah.
05:44
Brilliant.
05:45
Anything else you'd like to mention about Kleebury?
05:46
Erm...
05:47
Tell us that it's a lovely town and people should come visit.
05:49
Yes.
05:50
Perfect.
05:52
Brilliant.
05:53
Do you mind just introducing yourselves first?
05:54
Sorry?
05:55
Do you mind just introducing yourselves first?
05:56
Oh, right.
05:57
Erm...
05:58
My name's Geoff Hainsworth.
05:59
I'm a local town councillor.
06:01
Hi.
06:02
And I'm Dorothy McBride.
06:03
I'm the town clerk.
06:04
Perfect.
06:05
How long have you both been in Kleebury?
06:07
I've been in Kleebury just 30 years.
06:09
So...
06:10
How long have you been a councillor for?
06:12
Fifteen.
06:13
Fifteen.
06:14
I was working when I first moved into Kleebury.
06:16
I've been retired for 20 years now.
06:19
So...
06:20
Tell us about yourselves.
06:21
Hi.
06:22
Erm...
06:23
I was born and brought up in Mean Savage.
06:25
Er...
06:26
Lived away for a little bit and then I came back about ten years ago.
06:29
So...
06:30
I've pretty much...
06:31
All my roots have been in Kleebury area.
06:33
Yep.
06:34
Perfect.
06:35
Erm...
06:36
What do you like about Kleebury?
06:37
I like the atmosphere that you've got in the place.
06:41
It's a friendly place.
06:42
If you ever come down here on Remembrance Day, for instance, the Remembrance Bray.
06:47
And there are hundreds and hundreds of people in here.
06:51
And it's a big public spirited place.
06:53
Erm...
06:54
It's a lovely atmosphere.
06:55
I've never been so anywhere where so many people know by name.
07:00
I think they know by name.
07:01
Yeah.
07:02
So...
07:03
It's all like so.
07:04
I just love the community.
07:05
There is just such a wide variety of people, clubs and activities.
07:13
There's lots to do.
07:14
And then there's a real, really, really good community spirit here.
07:17
Yeah.
07:18
Brilliant.
07:19
Are there any businesses you'd recommend people to come visit while they're down here?
07:22
Yeah.
07:23
Do you have some, some pubs here?
07:25
Mm-hmm.
07:26
Yes.
07:27
Any in particular?
07:28
I don't think they need to sort of favourite, give it any favouritism.
07:33
They're all pretty good, aren't they?
07:34
Yes.
07:35
And they do.
07:36
They appeal to different ages and people who want different things.
07:40
Yeah.
07:41
There's...
07:42
There's...
07:43
There's...
07:44
There's...
07:45
But it's...
07:46
Yeah.
07:47
And it's a great...
07:48
Erm...
07:49
I'm Chairman of the Local Footpath Association.
07:51
And this is a great place for walking.
07:53
It's...
07:54
It's...
07:55
Erm...
07:56
We've got a website with 26 different walks on it.
07:59
So, it's...
08:00
Yeah.
08:01
It's a...
08:02
Brilliant.
08:03
It's a lovely...
08:04
Lovely place to be.
08:05
Yeah.
08:06
Any businesses anywhere you'd recommend?
08:08
I...
08:09
I couldn't pick one out, erm...
08:10
Erm...
08:11
But there are lots of...
08:12
Er...
08:13
Hubs...
08:14
Restaurants...
08:15
That...
08:16
Erm...
08:17
You know...
08:18
Cafes...
08:19
Like Jeff said, lots of walks.
08:20
There's also a lot of facilities up with the sports centre, the playing fields...
08:25
Er...
08:26
Lots of activities for children, play areas.
08:28
Yeah.
08:29
So, there really is something for everybody here.
08:30
Yeah.
08:31
Perfect.
08:32
Any last comments on Cleabury?
08:33
Erm...
08:34
I think one of the other things that's good about it being...
08:37
It's a safe place to be.
08:38
Yes.
08:39
We've got one of the most comprehensive CCTV camera systems...
08:43
Erm...
08:44
In the UK.
08:45
Yes.
08:46
Per capita.
08:47
And it makes...
08:48
We haven't got a police...
08:49
We lost our police station a long time ago.
08:51
But instead of just sitting down and doing nothing...
08:53
I mean, we...
08:54
We did do something.
08:55
We've er...
08:56
Er...
08:57
We've got a brilliant system and...
08:58
Even like Ludlow and Kiddermincy use it to be sweet...
09:01
We've got ANPI cameras on every road...
09:03
In and out of delivery.
09:05
Wonderful.
09:06
Absolutely.
09:07
Yep.
09:08
Come and visit.
09:09
Perfect.
09:10
Yes.
09:11
And if you want one particular shop while you're here, by the way...
09:12
The great shop just up there...
09:14
Erm...
09:15
You won't get it.
09:16
It's brilliant.
09:17
We've...
09:18
Every single person today is mentioned.
09:19
I agree today.
09:20
Yeah.
09:21
Quite rightly so.
09:22
Yes.
09:23
Perfect.
