00:00Six popular food and beverage outlets regularly frequented by Muslims are not halal certified,

00:08according to the Malaysian Islamic Development Department.

00:12The department listed Johnny's, Black Canyon, Dolly Dim Sum, Mr. Tak Kalbi, Bungkus Kaukau,

00:22and Ayam Penyet Best as not having halal certificates.

00:26The statement, dated September 2nd, has gone viral on social media.

00:32In a Facebook post today, Jaakim confirmed that the statement was issued following a

00:36query on the halal status of the eateries received through the department's public

00:41complaint system.

00:43However, Jaakim clarified that four of Ayam Penyet Best's outlets have obtained halal

00:49certification.
